Audit Center: Reports for Funders, Boards and Schemes

The Audit Center turns what your team records day to day - programmes, startups, payments, documents, impact figures - into reports for a funder, a scheme review or a board meeting. Pick a report, pick the dates, narrow it down, and export it with every column explained.

What you will learn

  • When to use the Audit Center, and what each of its nine reports answers
  • How dates work: which date a report counts by, and India time
  • How to narrow a report and choose its columns
  • How to export, find old exports, and save a view for your team
  • How to ask startups for their impact figures and review them

What the Audit Center is for#

Everything in it is worked out from records your team already keeps - nothing is typed in twice. Every count on the screen updates as you change the report, the dates or a filter, and an export carries the same numbers with a definition of every column.

Pick a report, the dates and the filters; every count updates as you go. The preview is what the export will hold.
  • Answer a funder's or a ministry's questions without building a spreadsheet by hand.
  • Show a scheme review how its money moved, from source to startup.
  • Bring one clear set of numbers to a governing council or board meeting.
  • Answer one-off questions - how many women-led startups graduated last year, or which startups owe you documents.

The nine reports#

The tabs along the top are the reports. Each counts something different, so two reports can give different totals for the same dates.

The number on a tab is its rows for your dates and filters. The strip scrolls to the rest.

Step by step#

  1. 1

    Choose a report

Press its tab. The number on each tab is how many rows it has for the dates you chose.

  2. 2

    Choose the dates

Type From and To, or pick This financial year, Last financial year or This calendar year. Dates are India time, and both days are included.

    • Dates mean decides which date is compared with the range - for Exits & graduations, the day the startup left or the day your team recorded it.
    • Active during counts a startup in every period it was with you. One your records show as left without a date counts in every period after it joined, because the date is not known.
  3. 3

    Narrow it down

Programmes & batches, Status with your incubator, Stage and Sector are always in the bar. More filters adds the rest, grouped as Programme, Lifecycle, Company, Funding, Engagement, Impact and Founders. Clear all removes every filter.

    • A filter never drops a row silently because a value was not recorded: an amber note says how many rows were left out for that reason, and Include them brings them back.
  4. 4

    Choose the columns

Columns picks what the preview and the export show. Drag a column header in the preview to change the order.

  5. 5

    Read the preview

The table shows the rows as they will be exported, with which date the range compares and what one row is. Some reports, such as Founders, add headline numbers above it.

  6. 6

    Export

Export makes the file. See Exports, below.

Exports#

The file holds exactly what the preview shows.
  • A large export can take a moment. You can close the dialog: the file waits in Export history (History, next to Columns).
  • Export history lists every Audit Center export your incubator made, with its filters, downloads and expiry. Files are kept for 7 days.
  • Regenerate rebuilds an old export from the same filters with today's data.
  • Founder emails and phones are contact data: seeing or exporting them needs Full access to the Audit Center.
FormatWhat is in it
Excel workbookA summary, the rows, and a definition of every column - ready to attach to a report.
CSVThe rows only, for your own spreadsheet or another system.

Saved views#

A view remembers a report, its dates, its filters and its columns. Save current view keeps it for you; Share with the team lets everyone on your team open it. Use one for each report you send every quarter, so it is the same every time.

My views are yours; Shared with the team is everyone's.

Asking startups for their figures#

Ask for figures, next to Export, asks your startups for their impact figures - revenue, staff, funds raised, IP - for a period that has ended. It goes to the startups your filters choose.

Below the message the dialog counts, and names, the startups your filters will ask before you send.
  1. 1

Choose the period and a due date

The period must be over: figures are asked for time that has passed. The due date is from today on.

  2. 2

Add a message if you like

It goes to the founders with the ask.

  3. 3

    Review what comes back

Impact Updates, in the sidebar under Audit Center, lists every update. Open one to read the figures and their evidence, mark them verified, or ask the founder a question.

One startup, everything you hold: the dossier#

On a startup's Company profile tab, Open the full dossier shows everything your incubator holds about that one startup - its lifecycle, programmes, funding, impact figures and what you asked it for - and Download workbook saves it as one file.

Only what your incubator holds: a startup at more than one incubator has a separate dossier at each.

Common questions#

Each report counts something different - one row per exit, per programme place, per payment, per founder - and compares a different date with your range. Check One row per and Dates mean on both.

With Active during, a startup your records show as left without a leaving date counts in every period after it joined, because the date is not known. Record its exit with the date to fix it.

It was recorded after it was made, and the day it was paid was not known, so the startup's joining date was used. Correct the date on the startup's Funding tab and the reports follow.

They are contact data and need Full access to the Audit Center. Ask your admin.

Every export is in Export history for 7 days. After that, Regenerate rebuilds it from the same filters.
